Your Nutritionist.

Alyssa Byrne (BHScNutDMed)

Hi there! I’m Alyssa, clinical nutritionist owner of Mana Health Studio.

Finding someone you trust to work with in pursuit of your health is SO important, so I thought I’d share some information about myself so you get to know who you’ll be working with.

I was born and raised in Perth, Australia - and as a child/teen, would have been the least likely person to end up in a natural medicines career, I was always more of an art’s and humanities minded person, never interested in sports or science. I loved to paint, play guitar & piano, and eventually followed a path into Arts & Law at university.

This path was so interesting, and I absolutely loved learning in this space, but right from the start I knew that the outcome of being a lawyer was not the life I wanted for myself. It was also around this time, that I was struggling with adult acne, very poor immunity, constant chronic stress & a poor relationship with food.

My interests in holistic health really stemmed from my own health concerns, and the fact that no matter where I looked, I could not find answers to my concerns or someone I trusted to meet me where I was at & help me improve my health. I spend endless amounts of money on poor quality supplements that promised the world, I trapped myself into taking advice from social media influencers, and I found myself in a constant cycle, like many, of getting absolutely no where. From here, I knew I had to make a change by learning about how my body actually works, so that I could help myself, and eventually others who found themselves in a similar situation.

Something not many people know - is that before Mana Health Studio, was ‘Mana Botanica’. This was my first pursuit of helping myself, through formulating specialised topical skincare using high quality essential and carrier oils to heal the skin. However, as great as this idea was, I knew deep down that real health starts from the inside.

I started my degree in Clinical Nutrition, and from the second I began I was immersed in this passion I didn’t even know I could have! I loved every single second of my learning, and being surrounded by individuals who had so much experience and the shared passion that I had.

This degree enabled me to expand on the concept of Mana Health Studio and what I wanted to deliver to the world - a space where people can come, be vulnerable and really receive holistic health care that supports, educates and enables people to have an active role in their own health care.

The further I went into really understanding holistic health care, I unfortunately also gained an understanding of how much autonomy is stripped from us in the Western Medical system - we are not encouraged or enabled to be involved in our own healing, we aren’t told that we can actually get consistent and reliable testing done to see what is going on inside our bodies, and we aren’t given options when we have health problems, we are simply given a pill.

At Mana now, my goal is to meet you where you are at in your health journey, budget and knowledge. To educate you on your body, allow you to have complete control of your health, with myself and simply the guide. I take the responsibility in educating you around your nutritional and lifestyle choices, to enable you to have a life lived to it’s absolute fullest, cultivating energy, longevity and vitality.

I’m so thankful to you for choosing me to play a part in your health journey.

More about Alyssa:

  • When I'm not in my beautiful clinic space, I enjoy reaalllllyyyy long beach walks with a latte, or a trip to the sauna, or I'll be with my little dog Indi.

I'd love for Mana to be my full time gig but for the time being I also do work part time as a secretary to an orthopaedic surgeon.

    1. I am very interested in the bio-psycho-social approach to pain, being someone who dealt with chronic pain for years, this is a really interesting concept to explore and teach on.

    2. All things skin health! I think glowing skin is such a confidence factor, and helping people achieve this makes me really happy!

    3. The Gut-brain-everything axis!! This isn't a medical term, this is just my awe of how much the gut plays a role in absolutely every part of the body, and is a key education piece in most consults.

  • I have one of two options being:

    1. Overnight oats (oats, chia, cacao nibs, protein powder, almond milk, berries)

    2. Eggs on sourdough with cottage cheese, tomato and spinach.

  • For me, magnesium bisglycinate and a good quality omega 3 (EPA/DHA) are on the same level of my favourite supplement! I think in our Western Diet we very much lack a lot of these two, and a little can go a long way in all areas of health!

*Not for every, please consult a qualified practitioner before starting supplementation.
